This paper will include a title page, an abstract, body with APA first level headings, citations and a reference list (title page, abstract and references are not included in the page count). Citations within the paper should be in APA format. Please use APA headings throughout.

ANA Code of Ethics Provision

Please select one of the provisions (1-9) of the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses (2015). Please answer the following questions in one or two paragraphs based on your reading and understanding of the specific provision you have chosen.

What are the main points/highlights covered in this provision of the Code? Use your own words. Use citations where necessary. (1 point)
What did you learn from reading this particular provision of the Code? (1 point)
How will you apply the information and knowledge from this section of the Code to your clinical practice? Be specific about how this section of the Code serves to advance the professional role and practice of the nurse. (1 point)

ANA & Canadian Code of Ethics

Read the entire ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (2017), and the Nursing Science Quarterly article written by Professors Mahony and Jones (uploaded on Blackboard) and then answer the following questions. (Note: the Mahony & Jones article comments on the 2001 version of the ANA Code of Ethics. You will see that the 2015 revision of the Code of Ethics now incorporates discussion of the social determinants of health and nurses’ roles in addressing health disparities.)

What are the conceptual similarities between these two different Codes? (1 point)
What are the conceptual differences between these two different Codes? (1 point)
Specifically, how are the social determinants of health and the concept of health disparities addressed in each of the Codes? Use statements from the two Codes to support your argument. (1 point)

Grading: 10 points Total:

4 points: English, grammar, spelling and APA format
6 points: use of substantive writing/critical thinking in answering questions

Tips for Success on the ANA Code of Ethics Paper (& most APA papers in general)

Choose any Provision (1-9) you wish to focus on for the first 3 questions
Follow directions carefully
Formal APA format (title page, abstract, body with citations and 1^st level headings, and a separate reference page with ALL sources)
Title page, abstract and reference pages do not count toward page #s
Be responsive to the questions narratively in formal APA format
Include first level headings throughout the body – base these on the major sections of the paper (i.e. Overview of Provision One, Lessons Learned, etc)

Do not use Part 1 or Part 2 as a heading – descriptive headings are best

First level headings are centered and bold
Be sure to include the Mahony & Jones article as part of the Social Determinants of Health discussion portion
Body of the paper should be 3-4 pages
Be sure your references on your Reference page are double spaced with a hanging indent (don’t forget to cite the ANA as the author of the Code throughout body & include it as a reference on the reference page)
Total of 10 points (4/10 points = grammar, APA, spelling, etc & 6 points = substance)
Remember to submit your paper through Turn It In (can use drafts once or twice, but MUST submit to Final – that is the only one that will be graded)
Try not to get too overwhelmed by the Turn It In # - get your results, go back and double check everything is properly cited and referenced and if so, submit
