What am I required to do in this assignment?

 

The unit combines formal “summative” (e.g. individual and group-based assignments) and informal “formative” (e.g. reflective tasks) modes of assessment, drawing also upon peer review and peer support techniques, staggered periodically throughout the unit so as to emphasise and support incremental individual student learning “as process”.

The assessment requires you to prepare an individual presentation (15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions) critically evaluating appropriate management practices and process in relation to managing elite sport.

How do I produce high quality work that merits a good grade?

 

A critical review of the identified area, as well as an examination of the internal and external environments so as to 1) establish the degree to which there is a ‘strategic fit’ between business practice and environment and 2) generate a range of viable, evidence-based, industry evaluations. This will necessitate use of supportive literature.

 

It is important to note the assessment task requires you to “critically review” an area of elite sport management. This requires that you do not simply state/describe what elite sport management is; you must be sure to draw upon multiple sources and relevant evidence to establish the viability – the strategic fit – of the organisation’s mode and scope of business as it is set against what is a changing industry context.

It is not expected that you generate an exhaustive list of options for this new development for the presentation – rather, only identify, through appropriate analyse, what you deem to be significant in this area.

This is an evidence-based exercise and as such it is expected that you draw upon a wide-variety of information sources, i.e., policy documents, industry periodical articles, as well as academic publications (book chapters and journal articles). In short, show your working!
