Ethnocentrisms is the person behavior of an individual that his cultural group is centrally more important and superior to others. It can be on the basis of food, religion, politics, custom, rituals or anything else. Ethnocentric people tends to use their own cultural norms and beliefs to generalize about other people's cultures and customs.

An important factor to understand about the ethnocentrisms is that it can lead to cultural misinterpretations and change how we communicate with each other.

We can reduce these negative consequences of ethnocentrism by cultural relativism. It states that the beliefs and activities of an individual should be understood and make sense in terms of his or her own culture and not from the view of outsiders. So we have to stand in the position of others and look like his perspective inorder to understand each and everyone. Due do the human diversity across the world, it is logical that they may have different environments and different lifestyles. So everything can be related to each other in some level. So it is important to understand that nothing is absolutely right or wrong.

So cultural relativism is important to provide objective insight into other cultures, will promote cross cultural empathy and help to understand similarities among human cultures. Cultural awareness and acceptance can reduce many of the conflicts that may happen in the workplace.
