Essay One Reflection: Argument of Evaluation Essay
Purpose: To reflect on the experience of paper #1 so that you can become more strategic and intentional in your future writing.
Task: Write a 1-2 page (double spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt font) maximum reflective essay in which you answer the general question: “What have I learned about myself as a writer from this paper and what do I intend to do as I work on paper #2?”
Guidelines: Think back over the whole process for paper #1 (i.e., all the writing assignments, the in-class activities, drafting & revising, workshops, etc.), and answer the following four questions, based on your experience, in an essay format.
1. What was the easiest part of writing this paper? Why?
2. Describe in detail at least one specific revision you made and explain how it made your paper more effective. If this does not apply, was there a revision you should have made (one suggested by a peer, for instance) that you didn't make? Why didn't you and how do you think it would have helped your essay?
3. What was the biggest problem you encountered in writing this paper, and how successful were you in solving that problem? If you were not successful solving that problem, why do you think that is?
4. If you had the chance to re-write this essay, what would you do differently? If the answer is nothing, what do you think you did with this essay (think about the whole writing process, including having a first draft) that worked well and why would you do it again?
