Comparative Government Project
Comparative Government
Mr. Layne
Directions:
For this project, you are to select another country and compare its government systems with that of the United States. You may select a country from the list below or propose a different country to compare. This project will require you to do your own research--all sources should be credible. The final product of this project will be an online presentation (Google Slides, Prezi, or another platform of your choice).
Your presentation should include all of the following:
1. Identify the topic country
2. Identify and explain the type of government adopted by the country
3. Identify and explain the different components of the national government and their roles
4. Identify and explain the levels of government below the national level (the country’s version of “state” and “local” government)
5. Identify and explain the supporting principles and ideas that frame the country’s government (constitution, law, specific founder/historical figures, ideology, etc)
6. Show how the country’s government is similar to or different from the United States
7. Determine any strengths and weaknesses/advantages or disadvantages of the country’s government
8. Assess the current state of the country’s government (who is the current leadership/leading political parties/major issues or upcoming elections)
9. Include relevant images throughout the presentation
10. A Works Cited for all sources used
11. A well organized, visually appealing (font size, spacing, use of color and images) final presentation.
You will be given extensive in-class time to work on this project. The final product is due on Friday, April 30 (this 1s a Professional Development day for teachers and there are no classes that day). You may, of course, turn your project in sooner if you choose.
Your project will count as a source analysis grade and a use of evidence grade, using the following rubrics. Given the size and scope of this project, each of these grades will count double:
100 87 75 60
