INTRODUCTION

A discussion of why the study is being done, the reasons it is being undertaken. Why the topic was chosen. The possible outcome of the study, why the study will be worthwhile.  

OBJECTIVE

The question or questions to be answered. The main focus of the study, what you intend to accomplish. When the study is finished, the benefits that might accrue.

SCOPE

The length and breadth of the study, its metes, and bounds. The time period during which the study was conducted and the time period for which the data was collected and evidence gathered.

WORK DONE/METHODOLOGY

What was done to answer the question, what data collection techniques were employed, how the data and the evidence were collected.

FINDINGS

What was found, what was the outcome. What was not readily observed before the study that is evident now. What new information emerged as a result of your efforts.   

CONCLUSIONS

Your conclusions must be logical and fact-based and must flow or be supported by the evidence/data/information collected.

RECOMMENDATIONS

If any.  

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TERM PAPER

Term Paper-- A minimum eight-page research paper, not including cover page, executive summary, works cited, graphs, charts, and excel spreadsheets.

Topics selected and in doubt should be discussed with the instructor.  The final research paper must show that the student has mastered several aspects of economics and can apply and relate those mastered aspects to current events. 

        Ethics -The paper must include an ethics component. Specifically, it must discuss a specific ethical issue pertaining to the subject matter of the research and discuss in detail the parameters surrounding this subject.  The ethical issue must be discussed in detail and incorporated into your paper.

       Spread Sheet-The paper must also include an excel spreadsheet and where appropriate, graphs, and charts which illustrate the data and the information used in the research for the paper and the presentation. 

Currently, we are conducting our class in an asynchronous mode, totally on-line. In that regard, students have been unable to meet together in groups to plan and prepare the research paper. Therefore it was decided that each student will research and prepare a term paper.
