Essay #2

You will write a reader-response essay responding to one of the readings below. You shouldn’t need to do any outside research, but you can if you want to. First, choose a reading that interests you. Then, pick one theme or aspect of the reading to focus on. Proceed from there. Analyze within the context of the reading.

For example, 1f choosing to write on “Live Nude Girl,” one of the themes you could focus on is body image in our society. Keep in mind that the readings have multiple themes in them but choose only ONE, and keep in mind that the shortest readings are not necessarily the easiest because there is less to work with. Once you choose a theme, you then need to come up with a thesis statement/argument that reflects your OWN opinion about that theme. Then in your body paragraphs, you need to choose quotes from the reading that support your argument/thesis. Try to limit your quotes to 1 or 2 per body paragraph because after every quote you need to EXPLAIN thoroughly why that quote is significant and how it relates back to your thesis.
