Instructions for Paper 2 – Trade History and Organizations
Topic (Option 1): Select a trade round (Uruguay, Doha Round, or NAFTA). What were its most important provisions? What were its impacts? What were the most difficult points to agree on? How did it impact the United States (or another country of interest to you)?
Topic (Option 2): Select an organization (U.S. International Trade Commission, WTO, IMF, World Bank, or any development bank). Discuss how the organization affects trade. What is the organization’s mission? Who gets a voice in decision making? How does it affect the United States? How does it affect other countries? Keep the history of the organization short. Focus more on what the organization does. What are some criticisms of the organization? How could its governance be improved for trade or development?
