Project description: You are hired by the SCM Faculty Coordinator to move old offices of four SCM faculty/staff from the 3^rd floor (Hyland Hall) to new offices on the 4^th floor (Hyland Hall).

1. Items include books, computers, printers and other miscellaneous items. Furniture such as desks, cabinets and bookshelves are not to be moved.
2. Unlimited boxes are available.
3. Unpacking boxes is not part of the project.
4. Offices on the 4^th floor are move-in ready.

Tasks and estimated task times are as follows:

Packing and labeling boxes - 6 minutes per box

Loading boxes into dolly - 1 minute per box

Moving loaded dolly (1 trip) from 3^rd floor to 4^th floor - 20 minutes.

Unloading boxes into offices - 1 minute per box

Moving empty dolly (1 trip) from 4^th floor to 3^rd floor - 10 minutes

Cleaning all old offices – total of 60 minutes

Strategy

1. Hyland Hall opens at 5:30 am and closes at 5:30 pm.
2. Work hours: Starts at 6:00 am;
3. One dolly (capacity 10 boxes per dolly) is available.
4. Dolly is “parked” on 3rd floor. Dolly needs to be returned to 3^rd floor after all offices are handed over.
5. Person #1 – Work package #1: Pack and label boxes in old office. Person works on one office until it is completed.
6. Person #2 – Work package #2 (in sequence): Move boxes from old office to new office (i.e. Load boxes on dolly, Move dolly to new office and Unload boxes in new office, Move dolly back to 3^rd floor). Person works on one office until it is completed. NOTE that Person #2 cannot start loading dolly until all boxes for an office is packed and labeled.
7. Person #1 – Work package #3: Clean all old offices (at the end of the day i.e. after packing and labeling of boxes in all offices are completed).
