Assignment instructions

Answer any three of the four questions below. Each essay should be about 400 words.

In total you should write about 1200 words and not more than 1300 words.

Questions

1. Discuss the issues in managing quality and supply-chains for the supply of vaccines effective against covid19.

2. Discuss how shipping containers have changed how operations managers are able to work.

3. Discuss how airlines manage capacity and how their capacity planning is affected by current conditions.

4. The following table shows the estimated task times for a project to build a sales web site for a small company.

The task times show optimistic (opt), most likely (ml) and pessimistic (pess) times.

The crash cost per day is the extra cost per day of hiring staff to reduce the time for a task. And max crash days is the maximum number of days reduction that is possible for a task.

Estimate an approximate 95% confidence interval for the project duration and create a Gantt chart showing a schedule for the project.

Each task is requires two programmers and the project manager has four programmers available. Explain how you might adjust the project schedule to deal with this capacity constraint. Discuss what the project manager might do to ensure completion on time.
