Paper instructions
i have at least 3 sources to use already. You should research your topic and position using references such as: Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Industrial Relations, Journal of Labor Research, Labor Law Journal, Labor Studies Journal, etc. as well as relevant books. Your paper is to be submitted by 11:55 p.m. on MONDAY, MARCH 22. There will be a penalty of a reduction of one full letter grade for each day that the paper is late. In 10 typed, double spaced pages, the paper should set forth your arguments. Your paper should include an introduction, the body of your paper where you present the evidence in support of your position and a conclusion. Also, make sure that you include footnotes (or endnotes/bodynotes) as well as a complete bibliography at the end of your paper. Carefully written papers, of course, will fare better than sloppily written papers. You should cite a minimum of 10 references in your paper and your bibliography. Up to three sources can be Internet references. For your paper, you should use Times New Roman 12-point font and double space between the lines. There should be no extra spaces inserted between sections of the paper if you utilize subheadings. One (1) inch margins are to be used for both sides of the paper, as well as the top and bottom of the page. Reference materials need to be cited in the text of the paper where the student refers to ideas that were developed by others or stated by others. In citing these references within the body of the paper, the student may use bodynotes (parenthetical notation), footnotes or endnotes but should use only one of these three formats throughout the paper. Direct quotations are allowed but should be used sparingly. Ideas and information obtained from sources should be paraphrased using your own words. Taking a sentence from a source and changing three or four words IS NOT considered to be paraphrasing. A reference section should be included at the end of the paper which includes only the references that have actually been cited within the text of the paper. The student may use any reference style for the reference section that she/he desires (e.g. American Psychological Association, Modern Language Association, Chic ago Style, etc.). References cited in the paper are to be from scholarly journals, practitioner journals or books. The student may use up to three references from the Internet with the prior approval of the instructor. Examples of scholarly journals related to industrial relations include Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Industrial Relations, Journal of Labor Research, Labor Law Journal, Labor Studies Journal, etc. although there are many other scholarly and practitioner journals as well as books which are acceptable for the research and writing of your papers. If one is unsure of the acceptability of using a specific reference, please inquire. The student should have a minimum of 10 references included in their paper. However, the student should not merely aim to hit this minimum number but should use what they feel is an appropriate number of sources in order to sufficiently convey and develop their arguments as well as to write a quality paper. Papers should be approximately 10 pages of text although longer papers are certainly acceptable. This excludes the title page, the reference section and any tables, figures, charts or diagrams that might be included in the paper to illustrate or supplement your arguments.
