SPAN 1001 Cultural Project 2

The second cultural project for SPAN 1001 is due on Friday, March 19, 2021.  In compliance with the Master Course Outline, we focus on MnTC goals 6a, 6b and 6c arts and humanities.  The scope of the project includes research, comparison and reaction.  *Choose two different Spanish speaking countries than were researched in Cultural Project One.

 Reactions are ways of thinking or behaving that may or may not be different from a previous way of thinking or behaving based on new information learned and thoughts that develop based upon this position.  Comparisons formed from research assess the similarities and differences between the new information learned and the students’ perspectives from the culture in which they have lived. 

Project Guidelines – Part One

• Choose an artist from each of the chosen two countries to research (Peru and Mexico).  These artists should work or have worked in painting, sculpture, murals, architecture, and/or jewelry.  They are not actors or musicians.  They can be alive or deceased. 
• Develop an awareness of the scope and variety of their work by researching and reviewing multiple sources for examples including critiques.
•  Include two examples of each artist’s work in your project.    These can be the actual examples or a link or specific website to view their work.
• Identify and discuss artistic contributions from the target culture of each country and each artist and explain how their contributions reflect cultural traditions, customs and patterns of behavior. 
• Make a comparison of the two artists and identify 4 similarities and/or differences between the two.  Discuss how their work reflects the time period in which they live or have lived as well as their global contributions or influences.
• Explain what you have learned and what you think about this new information and why – this is your reaction.   Justify your reactions with specific examples.

Complete your project in English preparing a WORD document of 1 to 2 pages.  Include research sites.   No plagiarism.
