As you have already noticed, our stock market is very volatile

Finance

As you have already noticed, our stock market is very volatile. You can make the case that it is very sensitive to news or events that happen around us. For this assignment, I would like you to look at two stocks that are not in the same industry. Please track their price over the past 6 months. I am mostly concerned with three stages, the price before Covid which caused the closure of everything and cancellations happened, price during the pandemic while everything was closed, and the price of the stock once the economy began to open.

  1. Was there a decrease in stock price after the announcement to quarantine?
  2. When did the stock increase in price? Was there any major news or announcements that caused it to increase?
  3. For example, when the stimulus was announced by the federal government many stocks saw an increase because people would have money, and there were some bailouts as well. Find something that caused the price to jump.
  4. Are there any projections for the future? What are they? (No need to calculate, you can google this)
  5. What may be a major event (news, economy, etc.) would cause the stock price to increase dramatically? How about to decrease in price?
  6. If you would have purchased 1,000 shares of that stock, assuming no other expenses other than just purchase price, what would your net profit/loss be?

Example:

American Airlines

February 12

$30.47

March 12

$13.45

April 13

$11.56

May 13

$9.11

June 12

$16.74

July 13

$11.63

Current Stock Price

$11.40
