As you read in Module 1, your final project will examine the general impact of either religion or political organizations/states on the development of societies all over the world. You will be explaining the significance of four peoples, places, events, or ideas related to your chosen theme.

In this module you will choose your theme: do you want to research the impact of religion OR of political structures on the development of world societies?

• The theme of religion might include within it: large-scale organized religions, informal or localized religions, religious leaders, religious concepts and ideas, conflicts between religious groups, and more.
   
• The theme of political structures might include within it: organizing frameworks like states, cities, and empires, alliances between political entities, political leaders, political ideas and concepts like monarchy, democracy, republics authoritarian rule, Confucian civil service, etc.

For this activity, you will submit a brief statement that includes the following:

• Your choice for the final project: Will you focus on the impact of religion or political structures?
• What you hope to learn: Based on this choice, include a few sentences explaining why you chose as you did and what you hope to learn. What interests you about this topic, and what type of information are you looking for?
• Any questions you have: Please state any questions that you have about the final project or your topic to your instructor.

• MO4: Choose a theme to explore for its effect on world history (CO3).

Evaluation

This assignment is ungraded but required so that you can receive feedback from your instructor and make sure you are on the right track for your final project. You will receive a “check mark” for completion in the grade center.
