Description: In this lab, you build an extended star network, in which the computers are connected in a physical star and a logical bus topology, and the computers form the outer arms of the extended star. The center of the extended star should be a device that creates one collision domain per port. Build the network with as much equipment as you have available, distributing computers evenly around the outer edges of the extended star. Draw the final topology and label the devices. If you lack equipment, you can simply draw the topology without building the physical network. Then answer the following questions: i. What type of device are the computers attached to? ii. What type of device is at the center of the extended star? iii. How many collision domains are in this network?

Answer:

This diagram shows all the above reuirements accordingly and mentioning their names and the devices used for the single collision per port is switch and the central device is so used as the switch . For connecting the end devices we also used switches as there is no compulsion.

Ans.1 Computers are attached to the switches

Ans.2 Switches are used at the centre of the star as the collision domain is needed to be single per port

Ans.3 Total 12 collision domains are attached in a network and marked as green.
