Expert Solution

Responding to Omroy Barnett:

I agree that both Harvest of Shame and the Triangle Fire illustrated unsafe work conditions, leading to deaths and injuries. The absence of sufficient fire exits and safe work environments killed the poor Triangle Fire workers. Likewise, the absence of humane living quarters affects the workers and their families, including young children. I also agree that efficiency is present in the Harvest of Shame, where I would add that the employers prioritized making money over providing decent living quarters. If they cannot provide such quarters, they should have increased their wages.

Responding to Jamie Hudson

I agree that the Harvest of Shame and Triangle workers were underpaid and had poor working conditions. They were trapped in poverty because the wages were so rock bottom, and they could not escape and provide better lives for their families. I also agree that the wages in the Harvest of Shame were too low to help workers with children, and as a result, they could not afford to send them to school and provide good nutrition. Equity vanishes when children suffer due to the lack of employment voice of their parents.
