Expert Solution

1.Employment law and employee privacy

One of the tins that many employees are not aware of is how private their private emails actually are. In many cases, there have been employees who use their work email for something else and got into trouble for it. While an employee might think of suing a company because they got fired over something they did over email, they need to know that their work emails are not as private as they thought they were. So insecure are emails that lawyers love such because they leave an easy to follow trail. If one is creating a policy regarding employee privacy and email, they need to put these into consideration.

The only way for an employee to know about the privacy clause is if they are told about it. It is the duty of whoever is drafting these policies to ensure that employees know about this. One way of doing that is by clearly outlining this in the policies being made. When formulating these policies. One needs to ask themselves which questions may arise from these policies being discussed and how can they be addressed.

The policies need to be clearly formulated and each employee should be reminded of the existing rules at least yearly. New employees should also be informed of the same. In educating the staff on the same, the management ensures that none of the employees will say they were not aware of the privacy clause. It prevents having to deal with cases where the work email has been used wrongly.
