What monopolies owned by your government have made your life harder?

As there is a single provider of a particular product in the monopoly market, firms can have full control over the price and can decide to sell the product at the price they want. Gasoline is one of the government monopolies which controls the entire market as people have no other choice. There is inelastic demand for Gasoline so, government can decide to sell gasoline at a very high price. Other examples of government owned monopoly are electricity and water utility. When the government own a monopoly, there are quality and service issues. In the electricity providing organization, there is a lack of customer service which decreases the quality of providing electricity services to people.
