GETTING STARTED

• Open the file IL_PPT16_4b_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
• Save the file as IL_PPT16_4b_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
  • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
• To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following support files from the SAM website:
  • Support_IL_PPT16_4b_Logo.png
  • Support_IL_PPT16_4b_Map.jpg
• With the file IL_PPT16_4b_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
  • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

 

PROJECT STEPS

1. You work for Street Food Tours, a company specializing in gourmet street food tours throughout Asia. To put the finishing touches on a presentation for tourists interested in the famous foods of Guangzhou, China, make the following changes to the slide master:
   1. In Slide Master view, on the Title and Content Layout master, insert the picture Support_IL_PPT16_4b_Logo.png, available for download from the SAM website, to display the Street Food Tours logo on all slides using the Title and Content layout.
   2. Resize the picture to a height of 1.2". The width will automatically resize to approximately 1.48".
   3. Use Smart Guides to move the picture to the lower-right corner of the slide master as shown in Figure 1 on the next page, then close Slide Master view.

2. On Slide 2 (“Eating street food in China”), apply the Arcs Motion Path animation to the slide title.
3. With Slide 2 still displaying, animate the bulleted list as follows:
   1. Apply the Wipe Entrance animation.
   2. Apply the As One Object effect option.
4. On Slide 3 (“A preview”), modify the animations as follows:
   1. Move the animation on the picture under the “Pork dumplings” text earlier so that it plays first.
   2. Change the duration of the animation on the picture under the “Dim sum” text to 00.50 seconds.
5. On Slide 4 (“Area history”), change the slide background as follows:
   1. In the Format Background pane, click the Picture or texture fill button, then click the File button under the “Insert picture from” section.
   2. Navigate to the file Support_IL_PPT16_4b_Map.jpg, available for download from the SAM website, then click Insert.
   3. Close the Format Background pane.

 

 

6. On Slide 5 (“Places to go & things to know”), review the slide to evaluate whether it is professional, clear, and consistent with the rest of the presentation. Revise the slide as follows:
   1. Change the font color of the title to Black, Text 1, Lighter 15% (2^nd column, 5^th row of the Theme Colors palette) so that it matches the other slide titles in the presentation.
   2. Change the font used in the left content placeholder so that all the text uses the theme’s Body font as shown in the right content placeholder.
   3. Change the shape fill of the right content placeholder to No Fill so that it matches the left content placeholder.
7. Add transitions to the presentation as follows:
   1. Select the Reveal transition from the Subtle section.
   2. Use the Through Black From Right effect option.
   3. Change the duration of the transition to 2.75 seconds.
   4. Do not allow slides to advance on a mouse click.
   5. Advance each slide after 00:05.50 seconds.
   6. Apply the transition settings to all slides.
8. In the Document Properties, replace the Title property with the text Street Food Tours, Inc. (Hint: Type the period.)
9. Check the Spelling in the presentation to identify and correct any spelling errors. (Hint: You should find and correct at least one spelling error. Ignore proper nouns, including Chinese names.)

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, then exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
