The main process through which experiments are conducted is what is known as part of the scientific method, where an experiment is conducted and validated using many different groups and controls. Generally, there will be the measured groups, where certain variable(s) are changed, resulting in the gathering of data. Then, these groups are often compared against a standard control group, where nothing is applied to the group in order to determine whether or not there are certain confounding variables that have not yet been accounted for.
