A) HR research is the act of searching for knowledge and understanding through searching investigations, reassessments, re-examinations and re-evaluation. It is a method of systematic investigation to test hypothesis through structured questions. The study of human resource practices shows the extent of success or failure of policies and practices.

B) HR research is important for a firm as is provides methods of evaluation of ongoing HR policies and programmes. It builds up existing HRM knowledge and helps in finding solutions to the problems of HR. Current policies and practices of HR can be evaluated and implemented provided through HR research. Through HR research problems can be foreseen and solutions can be found to prevent them.
