Divisional structures in organizations will provide a duplication of support. This is common in organizations that utilize a structure designed around producing multiple products. Where the duplication begins is that each product requires its own resources for manufacturing.

For example, xyz corporation manufactures women's, men's, and children's clothing. Each of these three products have their own manufacturing and storage facilities, accounting and finance departments, marketing division, and research and development. Employees are specialized in each product, and job knowledge isn't shared. The other structures can rely on other functional areas' resources, so duplication may not be necessary.
