Management refers to the process of performing various inter linked activities- planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. Each of these functions requires the application of various management skills- like technical, human relations, conceptual etc.

• Technical skills are usually reacquired in directing and controlling. Here the manager needs to know the technical application of various tools and appraisal methods.
• Human relation skills are very important in organizing and directing. The manager needs to know how to hire and retain workforce. Motivating people is an important part of organizing function.
• Conceptual skills are most important for planning function. The manager needs to have a clarity of the business environment, In order to make various p;ans for different time horizons.
• Time management skills are very important for all most all functions- specifically planning and organizing.
• The skills required for each function are over lapping. Thus, a manager needs to apply all these skills in order to get best results.
