What is a V-shaped recovery?

A V-shaped recovery is a type of economic recession and consequent recovery that resembles a "V" shape in charts, meaning that the contraction stage is steep and then followed by steep growth in a given macroeconomic measure, usually a country's Gross Domestic Product. This fast and robust recovery of the health of an economy is usually driven by a quick adjustment of the consumer's demand, an increase in government grants, and/or business/state investment funding. Other types of recovery can be found, such as L-shaped, U-shaped, W-shaped, or J-shaped. V-shaped recovery can be considered as an economic recovery best-scenario.
