Quality Function Development(QFD) is a strategy to integrate customer demands into the product development process. It sets the customer requirement as a design target and seeks to achieve acceptable product quality from the resulting manufacturing process. There are four phases in QFD. The first phase starts with product planning by analyzing the demands and needs of the customer. The house of quality is created at this stage. The house of quality is a matrix including customer requirements and technical attributes. The second phase is the design deployment. The purpose of this stage is to identify the most suitable components and systems to be used in the product. The third phase is the process planning. Crucial processes, process flow, and required equipment along with the framework for the crucial processes are identified during this stage. The final stage is production planning and this is where the organization ensures that proper quality control can be maintained throughout the entire process to make the product.
