Groups that practice nomadic pastoralism raise herds and keep mobile to avoid over using the resources of a particular area. Herded livestock include yaks, reindeer, cattle, sheep, goats, horses, camels, and donkeys. Nomadic pastoralism is most common in dry areas with little usable land; the practice is most prevalent in Central Asia and in the Sahel region of West Africa.
