Shifts in supply or demand: the following graph shows the market for donuts in Denver, where there are over 1000 donuts shops at any given moment. Suppose the surgeon general issues a public statement saying that the consuming of donuts is bad for your health.

Show the effect of the change on the market for donuts by shifting one or both of the curves on the following graph, hold all else constant.

As a result, the demand for donuts will decline. On graph below, this circumstance is illustrated by the change in demand curve from D0 to D1. This shift causes the quantity of donuts demanded to drop from Qe to Q1 and the price to decline from Pe to P1.
