13. A Tarmac delay is when a plane is on the ground but isn't taking off due to some reason and passengers are stuck inside, resulting in a tarmac delay.

The following is h]the difference between the US and European tarmac delay rules

a. Time Limit - The Time limit in the USA is 3 hours for flights travelling within the country and 4 hours for an international flight.

The time limit in Europe is 5 hours, an hour more than the US

b. expectations from the airline personnel - Food, water, access to washrooms are provided after 1 hour of tarmac delay in the US and after 2 hours in Europe.

The Europe laws also direct the airline company to provide compensation in extreme delays in arriving at the destination but the US law doesn't not.

14. Three things passengers stuck in tarmac delay should do are -

a. Ask for water, food, access to lavatories.

b. ask for medical attention if necessary.

c. if the plane is not providing an option to deplane even after more than 4-5 hours, immediately lodge a complaint to the authorities.

15. Montreal convention was a treaty signed in 1999 which made specific provisions for compensations in case of loss, injury and death of passengers in international flights. it removed all the different rules of airlines by different countries and unified one provision for all.

16. Montreal convention covers all international flights while EC261 only covers flights operating in the geographical territory of the European Union.

Montreal convention only covers physical damage while EC261 also covers inconvenience to passengers.

17. The MC99 has 7 chapters and FIFTY-SEVEN articles which cover from baggage to loss of lives to almost everything related to the aviation rules and regulations.
