Expert Solution
W.E.B. Du Bois is the most relevant in understanding our current society in the United States and todays world. Right now there is a Black Lives Matter movement which is about equal rights. Black people simply want to be treated equal to the other Americans and have equal opportunities. W.E.B. Du Bois was a prominent Black sociologist and civil rights leader who sought to show that racism was widespread in the U.S. society. He also believed that African Americans experience a double consciousness meaning African Americans have an awareness of themselves of being both Black and American and will never be free of racial Stigma. Today Black Americans are still suffering to be treated the same as other Americans. Being that racism still exist today, back people are still experiencing inequalities and killings based off their physical traits. Du Bois’s understood that the racism from the White society would remain the same even after the Supreme court ruled “separate but equal” and today, over half a century later, his theory and thoughts are still relevant and up to date.
