For our final discussion I would like for you to think about the online classroom and what advice would you give a friend about how to be successful in an online class?
Discussion Board Instructions Summarized:
The initial discussion board post will need to be a minimum of 100 words. The initial post is worth 12 points.
After you type your initial post, read through the other entries and reply directly to at least two classmates on a different day than your initial post. Each response is worth four points. The response posts need to be at least two-three complete sentences. When you reply, please type the name of the classmate you are responding to, provide a welcome message to that person, and type your name at the bottom of the message.
For all posts make sure to use proper grammar, capitalization, (I instead of i) and punctuation in this college level course in all correspondence. Please avoid “text” or “twitter speak” when corresponding.
Summary:

Expert Solution
The online classroom can be a very intimidating place until you understand what is being asked of you and what is an acceptable response. I have completed many courses both online and in-person and I can attest that in-person is a much richer learning experience, that does not mean that you still can't get a good amount of information from an online course, it just doesn't provide the tangibleness (I think its a word) of listening to a live lecture and interacting with your peers on a given topic. One thing that is both a pro and a con to online learning is that while some professors offer video lectures and try to make it as participatory as possible, many classes you end up learning on your own with minimal guidance. It truly is an environment where you get what you put into it. The other huge consideration to online learning is that it can be done from any location on the planet all while wearing pajamas and snacking on popcorn. Not having to get dressed, drive in to school super early to get parking, and sit in class is a huge positive.
Advice to a friend is relatively simple to cover. Time management is the key. Accurate and timely communication is also of the utmost importance. Knowing that all interactions are asynchronous, it is pertinent to look over all the work for the week, identify any initial issues, and get your questions in to your professor as soon as possible. This allows for your professor's responses to get back to you in enough time to implement their advice and still get your assignments in on time. Also, brush your teeth. Just because you're in PJ's doesn't mean the world stops!
