Four important steps when composing a proposal include (1) convincing the audience that there is a problem that needs to be solved, (2) explaining what you want your audience to do about the problem, (3) acknowledging opposing viewpoints or steps to solving the problem and (4) justifying the action you are asking your audience to take.  What strategies will you use for each step? What will make your content for each of these steps effective?  Later in the week, review answers that your classmates have provided and provide feedback on their ideas.

There is an organ shortage problem, there is no doubt about that. I will ensure that my audience knows the severity of the problem by stating facts and giving statistics. I will explain to my audience how they can help by becoming an organ donor. By becoming an organ donor an individual will be able to possibly give extended life to another person. Some may say that it is not in their beliefs to become an organ donor which is a legit reason, but I have heard people who know that I am a donor say things like "I'm not giving my organs to someone after I die, they should have taken better care of themselves to not need a new organ". In some cases that may be true, but who are we to say how another person lives their life? Yes, it may go against my beliefs but I'm not in their situation, and I do not know why they do the things that they do but I have no desire to get involved. In order to allow my audience to see my point of view, I have to be ready for any and all concerns that they may throw my way. I will make sure to have statistics and facts to show that I have done my research and are able to back up what it is that I am trying to convince them of. Not everyone will jump on board with what another is saying, but the few that do will help to make a difference in the problem presented.
