Peer support forums are designed to provide a place for you to post drafts of your work for helpful and constructive feedback. Constructive feedback involves communicating practical, concrete, easily understood, and helpful recommendations in a respectful tone regarding what is done well and opportunities for improvement. The acts of giving and receiving feedback will help you communicate more effectively with others about written work.

Process: In this course, we use the “Feedback Sandwich” model for providing peer support.

Sandwich style feedback starts with the bottom slice of bread. Here you will make several positive comments about specific things that the writer has done well.

Next, you provide the “meat” of your feedback, with specific areas that can be improved and how.

Finally, you have the top slice of bread, where you close with something positive about the draft. 

In Module 12, you will be busy reviewing and integrating feedback from me and your classmates as you finish writing your research paper. Specifically, you will want to:

• Edit areas you have submitted for peer supportive feedback.
• Finish writing your paper.
• Add all of the required elements of the paper together into your word processing document, including your running head, title page, and reference page.
• Proofread, edit, and finalize your paper.
• Double check your reference page and in-text citations for congruence and accuracy.

This optional Peer Support Forum is a space for you to ask any questions you may have about your paper. You may want to brainstorm ideas, ask about APA, ask for wordsmithing help from your peers on a portion of your paper, talk about writer’s block, or anything else that comes to mind.

Evaluation: This Peer Support Forum is optional and ungraded. Your participation is highly encouraged, as the feedback you receive can assist you in successful completion of your M12A1 Final Research Paper.

Outcome(s) addressed in this peer support forum include:   CO2: Apply the appropriate communication type and form for health care related communications. CO5: Produce various forms of professional communication including e-mails, memos, executive summaries, and reports for diverse audiences.
