Western society has a very strict conception of painting: it usually consists of a framed canvas hanging on a wall in a museum roped off so you can't get too close. You are in your own space, and the painting is in its own. The frame helps you know that your world and the painting are separate. Painting has been understood this way for a millennia.

However, in recent years, artists have begun to break from this traditional understanding of painting. 

Your task is to google two of the following artists and pick a work by each of them to discuss. In your discussion you are going to state how you think each artist, in their work of art you chose, is breaking free from the traditional understanding of painting as discussed above.
