Can you find any examples of *figurative language (e.g. similes, metaphors) that spark your imagination and interest? • Does any particular character engage your sympathy? Do you agree / disagree with a character? Why / Why not? • Does the book (or what you have read so far) have any relevance to your own experience and, if so, in what way? • Can you make any connections between what you are reading and any other books or films you have read or seen? What about connections between everyday life, history, or world events? • Do you have any questions as you read the story? Are you puzzled by any idea or the plot? If you could, what would you like to ask the author? • Have you come across anything new or interesting in the reading? • Have you learnt anything new about yourself from the reading?
