This week we will use Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I.) Director James Comey as the source for our two major assignments.

First, as you may have heard, there is an impending presidential election in the United States.  One of the central candidates in the race, Hillary Rodam Clinton, has been under investigation by the FBI for possible criminal violations involving her use of emails.

A mere 11 days before the election, Director Comey sent a letter notifying Congress of his intention to re-open the investigation. (http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/10/28/us/politics/fbi-letter.html?_r=0 ) Based on the timing, the political ramifications of the letter, and the subsequent investigation, could be enormous.  Certainly, Comey had to consider the ethical dilemma of his actions.

WITHOUT TURNING THIS INTO A POLITICAL DEBATE, as an unbiased law enforcement officer, tell us whether Comey made the correct ethical choice and why?  Could he have waited to after the election?  Why or why not?
