Specific steps to be accomplished include the following:

1. This project is essentially a systematic analysis of existing research linked to any topic of your choosing. Make sure to apply all relevant principles we had discussed in this class. We want to apply the best practice approach from the course HLTH 710 to develop a scholarly paper.
2. Here you are required to develop a 6-10 page paper based on published peer reviewed manuscripts on applied psychosocial measurements, survey research or experimental study design relevant to an area of your interest in public health/behavioral and community health field. This could also be a survey research paper that used specific construct relevant to your area of research.
3. Conceptualize (develop an idea) an area of study in public health or community and behavioral science. Make this idea specific by elaborating as a research topic that you can conduct a literature search on. An example of a research topic: The relationship between self-rated health-related quality of life and longevity among older populations in the United States. Or you could write “Relationships among  racism and racial discrimination and self-rated health outcomes among African American women in the United States: Analyses of racism and health”  You can check with me on your topic before you begin if you’d like and I’ll be happy to give you feedback.
4. You can develop a specific set of research questions and associated scientific hypotheses to help guide your work on the remainder of this effort.
5. Find 4 published peer reviewed articles that assessed constructs / variables related to your topic / questions / hypotheses or analyzed your topic in its entirety. At least 4 published articles related to your topic begins to help determine what has been done on your topic.
6. Write a scientific report that includes the following for each article:
   1. A 150 word abstract,
   2. An overview of the research methods and analysis (identify the main outcome and independent variables),
   3. Your assessment of how variables/constructs were measured and operationalized by different investigators you have selected,
   4. Your assessment of whether the research was conducted ethically,
   5. A brief summary of the results and discussion of these published manuscripts,
   6. A critique of the extent to which the introduction, methods (sample selection), results and discussion could have been improved.

7. You don’t need to recap (verbatim) what these researchers did but your analysis must reflect on your research questions and the extent to which the topic of your choosing for this paper has been comprehensively addressed.

8. References using APA style of referencing and citations
