Cognitive, meta cognitive and language learning strategies are different, but they all work together for the student's success. Cognitive learning strategies strengthen memory, problem solving, reasoning, etc. An example would be using a graphic organizer for students to use to sort the information and make connections. Meta cognitive learning strategies deal with measuring comprehension and it also builds confidence in the student as they accomplish goals. An example of this type of learning strategy would be looking for patterns in the text or patterns in math problems. Language learning strategies help students learn to communicate with others.
