1. Watch video, ‘I'm Not A Feminist,’ ‘Feminism Today,’ and ‘Modern Feminism’ under the Week 2 Content. Summarize the major ideas, and discuss your reaction regarding feminist, and feminism. Are you a feminist? Why? Why not?
2. Watch video, ‘Makers: Women Who Make America’ under the Week 2 Content. How would you relate yourself to Makers? Are you one of Makers? Discuss your reaction of this video.
3. Differentiate between first-wave feminism and second-wave feminism. What are the characteristics of third-wave feminism? Are we witnessing a “third wave” of feminism?
4. According to multi-racial feminism, what forms the basis of women’s oppression? How are its major contributions to feminist theory and understanding of women today?
5. Watch video, ‘On Intersectionality’ under the Week 2 Content. What are the major tenets of intersectional feminism? How would the perspective of intersectionality be helpful to understand women’s issues today? Would you consider yourself an intersectional feminist? Why or why not?
6. According to radical feminism, what forms the basis of women’s oppression? What is the primary political goal of radical feminism? Do you think how much the goal of radical feminism has been achieved?
7. Many positive changes have come about because of feminism and ideas about gender equality. At the same time, some practical complexities occur. For example, feminism has changed many traditional institutions, such as marriage, the corporate world, and education. It has also led to changes in how men and women interact with each other on both personal and professional levels. What do you all think are the most significant societal changes that have come about due to feminism.
