IFSM300 WEEK 8 DISCUSSION 1 Referring to the MTC Case Study, Raj Patel, the Chief Information Officer (CIO), has indicated that the current IT strategy is to adopt Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions

Two benefits of the IT Strategy to use a SaaS solution to support the hiring process.

• Availability:  One of the huge perks of using SaaS for many businesses is the possibility of accessing the software from any device, any location at any time. 
• The only thing need is a device with internet connection or Wi-Fi. 
• Secure Infrastructure:  SaaS companies always aim to provide a secure and bulletproof infrastructure to alleviate these fears among their customers and provide top-notch service. SaaS servers have to be in secure locations, while data transfer is encrypted so that security remains uncompromised. 

Three things the CIO and his team should look for as they consider which SaaS vendor to select.  Explain what they are and why they are important to MTC’s business.

• Acquisition: MTC is looking for a more efficient hiring system that at the same time decreases the cost-per-hire.
• Installation: With the acquisition of a SaaS solution, MTC expect the installation process to be easier and faster, and at the same time obtain a most organized datacenter.
• Security: Security is important for MTC, this is why is important for the SaaS to provide the required security support to guaranty the protection of the company information.

Explain what you think is MTC’s biggest risk in outsourcing this IT function, why you selected that risk, and what MTC’s IT department’s key responsibilities are to minimize risk and protect the business as they select and use a SaaS solution.

Depending on the Internet: Even though SaaS are great by offer Availability, I consider this as a risk as well, if for some reason the internet connection is lost, you will have no way of accessing or editing your data. Unlike locally-hosted services, it’s not possible to work in a SaaS application offline.
