Windshield Survey Exercise

Purpose:
The windshield survey is a composite of observational data of a community to be collected through observation and experience in the community. In groups of 2 to 4 students, students will use observation skills and begin the community assessment. Using a map, identify streets and sites for the route. This survey could optimally be done by walking, using all senses. For a broader view, the windshield survey can be done by touring the community in one’s vehicle.
