As someone who falls into the age discrimination bracket I may regret my agreement with judges stepping down at 70. For me, it is not a health issue so much, as it is a chance for the next person to also have a chance to hold the position which let's be honest, is very respectable and coveted. Allowing new blood into the courtroom may also be a chance for more devirity. In 2013 out of over 1,400 judges 1,147 were Caucasian (Federal Judge, n.d.). This lock on the postition could be a result of the longevity of the post amiong other things.
