The following memo is being addressed to the person you considered to be your supervisor/manager at your current or a former organization e.g., a club, professional organization, a sports team, etc.

Your boss knows you have been studying OB. S/he wants you, acting as an OB consultant, to identify the ONE most pressing or front of mind OB related problem facing the unit, department, or organization as a whole that s/he manages.

Your memo, addressed to your supervisor (Identified by first name only), must not exceed 750 words, double-spaced, 12 New Times Roman Font.

Do not include quoted material from the Kinicki & Fugate, 2e, (2018), Kinicki, 3e, (2021), or any other source or any citations

The format for the memo is your choice. The analysis and the memo’s content are in a memo format that you would be proud to submit to your immediate supervisor, if circumstances were such that you could.

Address your memo to your current or previous supervisor’s boss, date and a Your memo must contain  the following (Do not number the responses or repeat the questions):

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Your current or a previous supervisor’s name and title (A pseudonym is permitted)
2. The unit/department’s name and the organization's name (A pseudonym for both or either one is permitted)
3. The unit/department’s primary function
4. The number of people in the unit/department who are within your supervisor’s span of control
5. Statement of the unit or department’s ONE most pressing or front of mind OB problem from your perspective. The problem statement must be stated in one sentence without any explanation AND state only ONE discrete and specific OB problem.
6. What is the root cause of this OB problem? State only ONE root cause in one sentence.
7. Explain why it is the root cause. The explanation must include one OB relevant framework, tool or concept that is the most relevant for understanding this problem. Identify the OB relevant tool or concept and do not use quoted material or citation from Kinicki regarding this tool or concept.
8. Provide one OB related recommendation to address the root cause of this OB problem that is relevant, specific, and realistic 
9. Based on writing this memo, and completing your study of OB in this course how as your perception of your supervisor/manager, your unit or department, organization shifted, if at all?  Explain in no more than 6 sentences.
