Writing

Instructions to follow as usual: In research and development institutions, a “white paper” is a compact synopsis of a given subject. For each of the OT books covered this semester, students will create a detailed 2 page white paper after reading that OT book twice. Each 2 page white paper should briefly cover the following issues: background, date, context, a comprehensive textual outline, key theological concepts from the book (in detail), key verses from the book, and each should aim at presenting the information in the clearest didactic sense possible. Each white page should be a tight and full document utilizing as much space on the 2 pages as possible and should utilize at least 3 scholarly resources (besides our textbook), cited in an appropriate manner. Think of your WPs as a “cliffnotes” to each OT book. The purpose of these WPs is to give a comprehensive overview of each OT Book in a compact way. WPs are teaching documents. A successful WP will be both comprehensive and didactic, where someone without much background studying Biblical documents could pick up a WP and teach an overview of the book. WPs need to consider careful communicative strategy, and for that reason should be aesthetically appealing. Simple black text on a white page is unacceptable. WPs should be well organized, use a consistent visual aesthetic and present the most pertinent Biblical material clearly and carefully. include the following content:* Historical Background* Literary Context* A Comprehensive Outline with Versification (in your own words, not taken from translation headings)* Explanation of each Book’s distinctive theology        * Focus on Major Theological Themes        * Focus on Major Events        * Focus on Authorial Intent* Representation and explanation of key verses* Intentional Aesthetic Appeal (whether Puritan or Flashy…)* Teaching Strategy* Included Research (with citation)* Ministry Application
