Why or why not? 2.—Do you think that most police departments throughout the country would be willing to collaborate with academics or researchers? What are some hurdles that might have to be overcome in order to establish a willing and effective partnership? What about vice versa (academics/researchers willing to work with police departments)? How could we get more police departments and/or academics/researchers to be more willing? 3.—Can Smart Policing efforts help the average front-line patrol officer? If so, how? If not, why note? Or, is Smart Policing really only useful for police administrators? Why? Then, imagine that you start out as a patrol officer one day - is there any research from class lectures or assigned readings that you think could be useful on a day-to-day basis during your patrol?
