You are assigned to provide care for a 48-year-old Hispanic woman with stage 3 breast cancer. There are some language difficulties. She will be coming in for doxorubicin (Adriamycin®) to treat her cancer. Please put together an education plan for this patient. The education plan should include: Side effects of doxorubicin and potential adverse effects to watch for, including when to call the healthcare provider. The patient should be educated on potential neutropenia, signs to watch for, and precautions to take. The importance of staying on schedule for medications should also be addressed. The education plan should be presented in a manner in which she can easily understand. Provide details for how you will check for her understanding.
