Management

1) Seven characteristics that I look for in a leader are broad-minded, independent, inspiring, cooperative, dependable, mature, and determined. There were many other characteristics I wanted to include, but these are the seven that I like are most important. My top two qualities that are particularly important for a leader to certainly have been being broad-minded and mature. Being open minded within a leader is allowing or willingly seeing things from an unfamiliar perspective. When learning things from another it can improve our knowledge on certain topics. Hearing different ideas from others can challenge the leaders' beliefs or what they really know. Being mature is another important quality a leader should have. Not getting mad over pointless arguments and admitting that they are wrong without any excuses in conversations is being mature about the situation. Being patient during stressful situations is also being a mature leader. This can be inspiring to those who look up to you or work for you.

2. The 7 characteristics that i look for in a leader are: ambitious, caring, supportive, loyal, mature, self-controlled, and determined. The most important characteristic, I believe, is for a leader to be caring. When a leader is not caring, then nobody wants to follow them. I aim to be a caring leader in every way that I can when I become a leader. For me, the most memorable leaders I have ever had have been the ones that have cared about me as a person. The second most important characteristic is being loyal. Much like customers, Loyalty to your employees is how you succeed as a leader because your employees are your most valuable asset. My leaders need to be loyal because I want someone who is devoted to my help and appreciates my help that i have to offer our organization.

3. Choosing just seven characteristics that I look for in a leader is difficult. However, caring, competent, fair-minded, forward-looking, honest, inspiring, and mature are the ones that I chose. Each one that I chose, to me, makes a well-rounded leader. My top two out of the seven would be competent and inspiring. I have had several leaders in my career, and I have been very fortunate to have had great leaders. They were competent in what they taught me as well as what their position was in the company. Some were inspiring, which helped mold my career path into what it is now. They inspired me to want more and expand my thinking. I have also had the misfortune of having a leader that was not only incompetent as well as not inspiring. He wasn’t knowledgeable in what he was doing, which included not guiding me in what he expected from me. He was not inspiring at all. He spoke about others behind their backs and was not professional. I quit my 18 years at the company I loved because of him.
