We have ended Book 2 with Winston and Julia being arrested by the Thought Police. They knew they would be caught eventually, but did not expect it to happen so soon. They were betrayed by Mr. Charrington, who has been watching them this whole time. He had given them the room, that supposedly had no telescreen, but it was revealed that the telescreen was just hidden behind a poster. We also know that Winston has been keeping a diary this whole time and documenting the events in his life. Imagine that you are Winston. You have been caught and you also feel betrayed by someone you had trusted. You also know that what lies ahead (torture and maybe even death) will not be pleasant. Write a diary entry as Winston where you explore your feelings of fear and betrayal, as well as what happened when you were caught. Your diary entry need not be long - it can be between 200 and 400 words. "NOTE: Diary entries usually start with "Dear diary" It has a date (e.g. Monday, 7 March) It is very personal (so we use personal pronouns like I, mine, us, ours) You may use informal language since it is a personal diary.
