In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a variety of criminal justice related issues have emerged. For instance: domestic violence is up; hate crimes against Asian Americans are up; rates of alcohol use have soared; marijuana shops have been deemed an essential business; crime has gone down in some cities, but up in others; courts across the Southland are shut; police are not issuing citations/warnings instead of taking people to jail; inmates are being let out of jail and prison early; gangs in the favelas of Brazil have helped by forcing people to stay indoors and practice social distancing; and anything else you can think of, please run by me first

The point is for students to locate a NEWSPAPER or MAGAZINE article linking COVID-10 (aka the coronavirus pandemic) about any topic related to criminal justice. From there, summarize the article.

 This summary should be at last ONE PAGE. 

From there, tell me your opinion - What do you think we should do in relation to this now? When social isolation ends? How would you suggest better preparing the criminal/juvenile justice systems for the next pandemic? Explain. This should also be at least one page.

 Students are to write at least TWO PAGES.

 Extra credit is worth 2% points if the above directions are followed.
