FIN571 – Corporate Finance

Fill in the table above by providing the answers for all items using Yahoo Finance. Use the link provided to you within the references slide. A discussion is not required for any of these items, simply provide the answers above. The revenue estimates may be found under the Analysis tab towards the middle of the page and the revenues from the previous 3 years may be found under the Financials tab and the blue Income Statement link. Enter all figures exactly as how they are stated on Yahoo Finance. Again, no discussion is required for this slide. Simply provide the answers above within the table.
Discuss the relationship between the stock price and the P/E ratio. How do you calculate the PE ratio? What does a high ratio tell us about stock value? What does a low ratio tell us about stock value? What does Apple’s PE ratio tell us about its stock value (this answer is posted under the Summary tab right under the Average Volume figure)?
Discuss the importance of the market cap to an investor. How do you calculate market cap? What are the size criteria for large, mid and small cap firms? Is a higher or lower market cap desired by investors and why? What does Apple’s market cap figure imply?

Fill in the table above by providing the answers for all items using Yahoo Finance. For the stock price and dividends, go to the Historical tab and click on the Time Period arrow, click on the 5Y box, change the Frequency to “Monthly” and hit apply. You need to choose the data closest to the firm’s year end date of 09/30. For stock price (use the Adjusted Close Price) for Oct 2019 and Oct 2021. For dividends, use the Aug 2019 and Aug 2021 figures. For the equity figures, go to the Financials tab and the blue Balance Sheet link. Click on the Total Equity Gross Minority Interest arrow. This will open up your stockholder’s equity figures. Enter figures within the table exactly as how they are stated on Yahoo. HINT: % Change = (End Figure-Beg Figure)/Beg Figure

Discuss the reason for the trends (% change) using recent events and market conditions below. Be specific. What has happened within the last couple of years that affected this firm (ie pandemic)? You must discuss all three indicators (stock price, dividends and equity).
