Nature Nurture Assignment Expectations – ECED 1074

This course will provide opportunities to learn about the interplay of nature/nurture and brain development. We will continue to build upon this knowledge. You will also be able to review a lesson on FOL where APA format was introduced & refer to APA Guidelines.

For this assignment you will independently review all content on FOL. This paper must be written in APA format. It will contain a cover page, headings, and a reference page. You must adhere to the following instructions.

 

Page 1:

              Your paper will start with a title page in APA format- this will be page 1 of your paper (please review APA guidelines by looking at Fanshawe College APA manual PDF).

 

Page 2:

You will start with a heading in bold that says Introduction. You will write your 1-2 paragraphs introduction below this heading. Your introduction should tell me what your paper is about. You should construct your introduction using these questions as a guide:

 

• Identify the difference between nature and nurture and explain their importance to children’s development. Support your ideas by citing your sources. NOTE: Examples makes this section stronger.

 

Page 3:

Below your introduction you will have a second heading in bold and this should be called Responsive Care. You will write 1.5 - 2 paragraphs and construct your response using these questions below as a guide. The video ‘How Parenting Affects Your Child’s Brain’ TVO parents supports this section.

 

• Explain and provide an example how the approach of ‘talking to / with’ our children, supports their development rather then talking ‘at’ our children. Support your ideas by citing your sources. NOTE: Examples makes this section stronger.

Below your responsive care you will have a third heading in bold and this should be called Reflection. You will write 1-2 paragraphs and construct your response using the question below as a guide. The video ‘What we learn before we are born’ Ted Talks supports this section.

Late Assignments:
